A HOME FOR sexual and gender minorities
Building a Future of Inclusion and Empowerment

Our Impact
A Safe Space for Diverse and Empowered Communities in Kenya
We are committed to promoting safety, security, and economic empowerment for marginalized groups in Kenya. Through digital activism, creative advocacy, and community-driven initiatives, we work to build a future of inclusion, resilience, and empowerment.

What We Do
At Nadharia, we take a holistic approach to support and empowerment. Our programs are designed to provide safety, opportunities, and advocacy for sexual and gender minorities. Through education, economic empowerment, mental wellness, and community engagement, we create pathways for lasting change and inclusivity.
Sustainable Economic Development
To address job-readiness challenges, we launched a Sustainable Economic Development initiative in 2023.
This program equips individuals with hands-on, marketable skills, helping them access employment and financial independence. So far, we have trained 22 individuals, with some securing jobs and others successfully practicing their skills. In 2024, we expanded our training to include Graphic Design and Virtual Reality (VR), creating remote work opportunities to minimize workplace discrimination.
Creative Advocacy Through Arts & Sports
Beyond economic empowerment, we foster inclusivity and self-expression through creative advocacy.
We curate creative showcases (drag, voque, gender ,climate shows)where individuals can share their work and talents with the community. Additionally, we have established inclusive football and basketball teams, providing a safe space for individuals to challenge discrimination in sports while nurturing their skills.
At Nadharia CBO, we believe in creating pathways for inclusion, empowerment, and sustainable growth. Through our programs, we are building a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Shelter & Support
Since 2019, our shelter program has been transforming lives by providing immediate support to individuals facing homelessness due to their perceived sexual and gender identity, home eviction, and systemic discrimination. We receive numerous cases from Kenya, Uganda, and Somalia, reflecting the widespread need for safe spaces.
Our shelter offers more than just a temporary roof — it provides psychological support, wellness services, and essential basic needs, ensuring clients regain stability and dignity. Through this program, we’ve created a safe space where individuals can begin their journey toward healing and self-sufficiency.
A critical gap we identified is the lack of job-readiness and employable skills among many beneficiaries, making their transition to independent living more challenging. In response, we’ve integrated skill development and empowerment initiatives into our support services, equipping our clients with the tools they need to build sustainable, independent futures.
